Speedsters Fined At Mangonui

Following action by the police with the object of putting a stop to speeding through the main street of Kaitaiu by motorists, a number of lines were imposed by Mr J. Molding, S.M., at a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. Kaitaia, on Friday. The police had laid a trap on a certain day. A distance of 220 yards had been measured and pegged off by the Public Works engineer, and after synchronising their timepieces, a police constable was placed at eacli end of the trap. » The following fines were imposed on those caught in the trap;—Val Cooper, Amy J. Finlay. Dudley James Hanlon, Roger D. Lupton, Robert Baden Russell, 10/- and costs; Cecil S. Puckey, 15/- and costs; William John Smith, £1 and costs.
