Centennial Exhibition Prospects

I Per Press Association. Copyright, i WELLINGTON. This Dav.

A visit was paid to the Centennial Exhibition buildings on Friday morning by the Prime Minister, accompanied by the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, president of the Exhibition, several other members of Cabinet, the Mayor of Wellington, Mr T. C. A. ifislop, and members of the Wellington City Council.

Mr Hislop said they appreciated the visit of Cabinet Ministers, especially that of Mr Sullivan. The directors wore not entirely satisfied that the space taken by New Zealand products, and particularly New Zealand manufactures, was worthy of (he occasion. Wellington had done well, as had Dunedin, but Christchurch and Auckland had done badly. What was needed was a drive to let the people realise they would have the opportunity of showing what Now Zealand could do. He had sufficient belief in the commonsensc of the people to believe that they would respond, and seize the opportunity for fully displaying the manufacturing Industries.

Mr Savage, in the course of a lengthy address, expressed amazement at the progress made with the erection of the building and the quality of the work.
