Christmas Traffic On Northland Railways
The past few days have brought very heavy holiday traffic at the Whangarei railway station.
On Friday, large numbers of pupils from the Whangarei High School left for their homes, both north and south of Whangarei, while a big percentage of Saturday’s outgoing passengei's was comprised of primary school children leaving Whangarei for the summer holidays. ■ It was necessary to run a relief express southwards on Saturday, leaving Whangai'ei at 11.15, a little more than half an hour ahead of the oi'dinary express. Both trains left carrying full complements of passengers. Inward traffic to Whangarei was heavy on Friday, large numbers of passengers alighting from both down and up expresses.
