Ninety-Fourth Birthday Celebrated
A very happy time was spent at the residence of Mr W. B. Burch, at Onerahi, yesterday, when some 46 relatives of Mrs Anne Telfer met together to celebrate her ninety-fourth birthday. Mrs Telfer, who was born in Queen Street, Auckland, on Decembe.r 18, 1844, was, with her husband, one of the pioneer settlers of P.arua Bay. She was left a widow with a young family. For many years past she has divided her time among members of her family, with whom she has always been a welcome guest. No better known or more highlyrespected settler is to be found in the North. The birthday celebration w,as held at Onerahi as a central gathering point, and there, on the lawn, under the trees, at the residence of her son-in-law, a very enjoyable picnic was held. The central feature was a specially-made birthday cake, and a real spirit of reunion marked the occasion. Mrs Telfer has 12 children living, 52 grandchildren, and 38 greatgrandchildren. She is at present the guest of her daughter, Mrs Stewart, of Whatitiri, whence she motored after yesterday’s celebration.
