The firm's total floor space is. 12,540 square feet, and the main garage and workshop is 200 feet long and 33 feet wide. What is claimed to he one of the most attractive showrooms in Whangarei is possessed by this company, this department being 6G feet long and 33 feet wide. Its construction was completed about three weeks ago as part of the remodelling scheme. New Testing Equipment. No less than £250 is being expended by the firm in the purchase of new testing equipment to assist in the diagnosis of faults which even the best of cars may develop. One machine, which itself has cost £l3O, has already been installed, and from its multitudinous dials may be gained much - otherwise hidden information relative to the internal economy of the motor vehicle. Equipment is provided for the testing of batteries and the location of ignition troubles together with attachments to analyse the exhaust of a car, by which it may be ascertained i what adjustments are necessary to . give the best running at certain speeds. Compression tests of each cylinder of an engine may also be performed. In the words of a member -of the staff the work of the “trouble shooter” in motor engineering has been cut down to a minimum. In the newly-laid-out premises, provision is also made for a new toolroom where new parts and accessories will be stocked.
Tire work is not yet finalised but the next month should see its completion.
