Whangarei’s Expanding Motor Business

The expansion of the motor trade in

Northland is reflected in enlargements and alterations now being effected to the premises of Whangarei garages and motor sales agencies.

Although the major construction of their new used-car parking area was completed several weeks ago, Messrs. Weston Brothers arc still pursuing an extensive plan of remodelling and alteration for their large premises in Water Street.

To the public this well be rrfost obvious in the installation of another large display window adjacent lo the two existing windows of the showroom. The new window will permit the display of parts and accessories in the new stock-room, which is being fitted up in the centre of the main building, together with new office accommodation. The alteration of the stock-room and offices is necessitating a fairly extensive remodelling of the interior.

When the reorganisation of the premises is complete, the whole of the right-hand side of the building will be used as the servicing department, and an electric hoist and other

modern plant for greasing and general running work on cars will be installed.

The central portion of the garage | will be used for ordinary “shop” re- J pair jobs, while the left side of the premises will be devoted to the usedcar department, in which the firm does a large trade. Here will be located the plant for reconditioning of used cars, which will then be placed in the new parking area for display to the public, all ready to drive away. With all sides open to the . public gaze, the used-car park is unique in Whangarei, and, when painted, the concrete posts plastered, and the floor sealed, will be an attractive addition to the town’s motor business resources. This section of the business will be adjacent to the new-car saleroom in the main building, and the salesmen’s office will also be situated close at hand to give the maximum convenience to customers and members of the staff.
