Troubles Forgotten
(Received 2.30 p.m.) PARIS, July 18. The whole city developed the holiday spirit today in view of the arrival of King George and Queen Elizabeth tomorrow. Paris has been none too gay lately, owing to economic and other factors, but all troubles are forgotten in the sightseeing. The streets were filled with crowds all day long viewing the decorations. Police reports state that 25,000 . visitors arrived in the last 24 hours. Official guests at the unveiling of the Villers Bretonneux Australian War Memorial will include Mr and Mrs W. J. Jordan and all the Australian agents-general. Prime Ministers Exchange Notes. Private letters exchanged between Mr Chamberlain and the French Premier, M. Daladier, in anticipation of the Royal visit to France which has been the subject of some comment in the press of Paris and London, wore mentioned in the House of Commons at question time. Mr Chamberlain told Mr A. Henderson, that the letters were of a private character and not intended for publication. “I m'ay, however, state that the results of the correspondence have been more more to show the close concord which exists between the two Governments on all matters of common concern.”
