Empire Sugar For Australia
SYDNEY, July 19. The Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, referring to the internal sugar agreement, announced that Australia had accepted the nominal reduction of the quota of 7500 tons, but will receive 1-5373 tons of increased Empire consumption. The net reduction, therefore, will be 4127 metric tons. He pointed out that Australian producers, in spite of this minor sacrifice, would assuredly benefit by the material advance in the free market prices, far exceeding the value of 4127 metric tons at current prices.
