i • [Special to “Northern Advocate .’'l j AUCKLAND,’This Day. In the Auckland Police Court yesI terday, a young married couple apj peared on summons on two charges of * obtaining from Auckland chemists j quantities of a certain drug by falsely representing that prescriptions purporting to be signed by doctors were good and. valid prescriptions for the j tablet containing the drug. I The police stated that the husband I had lived for a time in a foreign country, where he had started taking quanj tities of a certain drug. He had mar- • ried, and his wife had cultivated the I habit. The husband had made out false prescriptions, signed the names of | doctors to them, and obtained quantiI ties of the drug by presenting the prej scription to local chemists. They were both respectable citizens, and the hus- ; band, was in a good professional posi- . lion. 1 Evidence that both the husband and ! wife were making every effort to assist in treatment was given by a doctor. Stating that no one else was involved in the offences, the magistrate ordered the names to be suppressed. Both were convicted and ordered to ! come up for sentence if called upon i within six months.
