Abattoir Area Extended
Extension to the abattoir area in the Whangarei county to include Onerahi, Portland and Oakleigh were decided upon by the Whangarei County Council at its meeting yesterday. The new district will include all that area of the county lying on the Whangarei harbour, and river side of the Whangarei-Tamaterau main highway from the Waikaraka bridge to the Whangarei borough boundary, including the Onerahi town district, and on the western side, nil that area of the county lying on the Whangarei harbour and Oakleigh river side of the State highway from the Whangaroi borough boundary to its intersection with the North Auckland railway line at Oakleigh. The chairman, Mr J. A. S. Mac Kay. resmarked that it would be a desirable thing to have all meat killed under proper supervision, particularly if; a fairly thickly populated area such as that included in the district.
