[Special To “Northern Advocate”l PALMERSTON N., This Day.

After two rounds of the North Island golf championship had been played on Saturday six competitors remained to continue match play today. In the six were the outstanding players of the last New Zealand championship meeting, J. P. Hornabrook, open champion; B. M. Silk, amateur champion; the Kitto brothers, J. P. Mortland, runner-up in the amateur championship at Wanganui to Silk in 1934; N. Amon, a young player who has been conspicuous in recent seasons; Pax Smith, of Akarana, and Max Moore, of Wellington. Silk today met A. R. Kitto, his rival in the amateur final last year, while Smith was opposed to R. F. Kitto, who defeated him brilliantly in the first round of the amateur contest at Hamilton last year with a spectacular round. Second round results: —Hornabrook beat Hutchison, 4 and 3; Amon beat Glendining, 1 up at the 19th; Mortland beat Harris. 5 and 4; Smith beat Walsh, 4 and 3; R. J. Kitto beat Ram- ' say, 5 and 4; A. R. Kitto beat E. W. Clark, 1 up; Moore beat Harris. 2 and 1; Silk beat Sutherland, 1 up.
