Child Falls From Bridge; Drowned

r Special To “Northern Advocate’ M ROTORUA, This Day.

Falling from a foot bridge over the Utuhina Stream at Ohinemutu yesterday, a 17-m'onths-old child, Turi Morrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Morrison, of Ohinemutu, was drowned despite a desperate attempt by his mother to save him.

The child was cne of a group of small children playing in the vicinity of the stream and when they were cx-ossing the bridge he apparently lost his footing and fell. None of the other children was old enough to attempt a rescue, but they hurriedly summoned the child’s mother, who found the body of the child covered by reeds and the branches of a willow tree.
