SIX SERVICES MEN GO LEG-BEFORE
Wickets were cheap when Onerahi met Combined Services under perfect conditions on. No 1 wicket. Batting first, Services wore all in the pavilion again by afternoon ten.
Batten ami F. Williams opened nicely, but Batten became the first of six Services I.b.w. victims for (he day. Hewlett and Drake were on the spot and Fyfc came on to make the middle of the innings sag badly, capturing four wickets in, the first II balls lie wheeled up.
With only 77 to catch, Oncrahrs task looked ridiculously simple, but, except for Fred Murdoch, the veteran of the party, the batsmen-offered the feeblest of resistance.
Accurate bowling was backed up by keen fielding, and the whole side was out in 17 overs for 50.
Services made an oven more appalling start in their second venture, and in less than an hour lost live wickets for 35. making their net lead G2. Scores:—
