Good Sale Of All Sorts At Addington
(Per Press Association. —Covv right.'] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. At Addington market, entries in all sections of stock yesterday were smaller, except in the store sheep section. Breeding ewes again came forward in large numbers, and, after a slack commencement, there was an improved market on a parity with recent fair rates. Two-tooth ewes made to 40/6; 4-year to 29/6; four and six-tooth to 33/6. Lambs were better by 1/ a head than a week ago, and wethers were also in keen demand, best lines making up to 23/6. A small yarding of fat lambs went almost solely to butchers at a shade over export parity. Best made from 28/ to 32/.
The fat sheep entry was the smallest , for some months, and it was a steady sale at recent rates until the last hall : hour, when some buyers had to raise values by 3/ a head a secure their requirements. Best wethers made from 27/ to 32/; good, 25/ to 27/; inferior, down to 23/; best ewes, 21/ to 25/; good, 18/ to 20/; light, down to 15/. Fat cattle.—There was a smaller entry of 395 head, and, a shade of improvement ! in values for good steers and heifers. Outstanding steers made to £l6 12/6; good, £l2 to £l4 10/; prime mediumweight, £lO 10/ to £ll .15/; best .heifers, £9 to £ll 7/6; inferior, down to £6; best cows, to £lO 10/; inferior, which sold draggingly, down to £4. j Fat pigs,—Good porkers sold at abopu last week’s but inferior \y/£re easier by 2/ to 3;', Heavyweight baconer pigs were cheaper by u T /to 4/ a head, but others were lit£H& changed.
