Awanui

People flocked from all parts of the district to Evans’ Hall on Friday evening to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs G. E. Tyler, who, after many years’ residence in Awanui, are leaving the district. Music for dancing was provided by Udjur Bros.’ orchestra (Messrs. J. and L, Ford, G. McMullin, J. Gardiner and H. S. Bannister). A vocal item was given by Miss E. Yates. Mrs Tyler was presented with a leather suitcase, and Mr Tyler with a wristwatch and a purse. Speeches were made by Messrs. T. Blithe, E. R. Bird and W. Rose, all of whom spoke in glowing terms of the good qualities of the guests, and the useful'lives they lived at Awanui. Acknowledgment was made in. appropriate terms by Mr Tyler. ' After the presentation, an excellent supper., was served, and dancing continued till the early morning. Mr T. Blithe acted as M.C.

Mr Geo. Mackintosh, of Awanui, is visiting Auckland.
