Sheep And Pigs Sell Well At Westfield

[Special to “Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day.

Reporting on their sale of sheep and pigs at Westfield yesterday, Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report;—

Sheep.—We had an average entry of sheep, for which competition was again good and our quotations remain the same as last week. Extra heavy prime wethers, £1 11/ to £1 11/6; heavy prime, £1 9/ to £1 10/9; medium, £1 7/ to £1 8/6; light and unfinished, £l3/2 to £1 6/6; heavy prime ewes, £1 2/ to £1 4/9; lighter, £1 0/6 to £1 1/6; other ewes, 17/6 to £l.

Lambs. —An average entry of lambs again drew good competition, and realised values on a par with last week. Heavy prime lamb, £1 4/6 to £1 6/3; medium, £1 2/ to £1 4/; lighter, 20/ to 21/6; small and plain, 15/6 to 19/6.

Pigs.—Pigs were yarded in shorter numbers. Competition was good, and values ruled very firm on late rates. Heavy baconers, £3 9/ to £3 12/; medium, £3 3/ to £3 6/; light, £2 18/. to £3 2/; heavy porkers, £2 7/ to £2 12/; medium, £2 2/ to £2 4/; light, £1 15/ to £1 19/; small and unfinished, £1 4/ to £1 11/.
