BEEF PRICES FIRM UP AT WESTFIELD
AUCKLAND, This Day. Ox beef was in short supply at the Westfield fat stock sale today and, with a full attendance of buyers bidding keenly, prices firmed on late rates. There were still plenty of cows and heifers, however, and in this section values were again ea/,ier. Some fine quality heifer beef was included in the yarding. The offering of J calves, though well up to the average, was smaller than last week. Demand was keen for choice veal and prices were steady on the whole. Competition for prime lines of ox beef improved, and values in this class were very firm at late quotations. A large entry in the cow and heifer section met with only a fair demand, and the values wei’e inclined to ease.
