Assaulted Man In Serious State
iPer Press Association. —Covv right 1 AUCKLAND, This Day. “The man alleged to have been assaulted on Saturday night is in hospital in a critical condition, and I ask for a remand until tomorrow,” said Detective-Sergeant Walsh, in the Police Court today, when Kenneth Kerey, aged 22. single, was charged with assaulting James Maitland Webb, a seaman. Mr Schramm, who appeared for' accused, requested bail. “In view of Webb’s dangerous condition, I suggest that bail be substantial,” said Detective-Sergeant Walsh. The remand was granted, and bail was fixed at £250. Webb, a seaman, aged 19, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with injuries allegedly caused in a scuffle outside the Morningside hall. His condition today was reported by the hospital authorities to be serious.
