WEEK ENDS STRONGLY

[Special to "Northern Advocate."] AUCKLAND, This Day.

The first call of the week on the Auckland Stock Exchange revealed continued strength on the market. There was a wide inquiry, and many lines showed fresh advances. Conspicuous among these was Bank of New Zealand, which had been steady early in the week at £2 7/6. The scrip changed hands this morning at £2 8/6, after which the market rested at £2 8/3 and £2 9/.

South British Insurances registered an advance, changing hands at 95/, a rise of 1/6, and a subsequent market between £4 14/ and £4 16/. The pastoral industry was well supported, with buyers for Farmers’ Auctioneering, North Auckland Farmers, Dalgetys, Abraham and Williams, Goldsboro Morts, Loan and Mercantile, and River Plate.

Recent inquiries for Northern -Steam persisted, and the shares moved up 9d with a sale at 7/. ■

In the mining section Alexanders had their first local sale since June, selling at 10/9, a drop of 3/5.

Mason Struthers shares were asked for, a buyer coming in at 13/6. In the brewery section, Innes shares were firm, with offers at par for both issues. Amalgamated Brick debentures were in demand, and for the Auckland issue £lO3 was offered with no seller appearing, and for the Wellington issue quotations were between £lOl 15/ and £lO3.

Amongst Australian securities G. J. Coles showed further strength with quotations between £3 15/ and £3 15/9.
