WHANGAREI CYCLE RACE

The most interesting cycle race the Whangarei Club has yet known was staged on the Nixon Street course last evening. The riders encircled the stretch of road 15 times, the distance aggregating 21 miles.

He did the 21 miles in 59m. 47_s. For a start, Buckley.- Buckland. Burch and Christie kept together. Beeston crashed and L. North was overtaken by Clark. Buckley maintained his advantage, and. in a remarkably close' finish after a long run. won by half a wheel from Christie, with Clark six lengths back third. Detailed results are:— H. Buckley (2m. 155.). 62m 1 A. Christie (2m. 15s), 62m OT-5s .. 2 T. Clark (scrX, 59m 47s 3 Prior to the race W. Beeston. from a flying start, covered one lap in 3.40 3-ssec. He came a nasty spill on his initial attempt, damaging his bike considerably.
