The Poverty Bay Turf Club’s summer meeting opened in fine weather. The going was good. The totalisator handled £2794 10/-, against £2113 10/on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £6Bl. Time, 1.44. Summer Hack, of 60sovs., six furlongs.—(l) Hunting Mars. 7.13 (Marsh). 1; (4) Pahanui. 7.9, 2; (3) Mata Hari, 9.0. 3. Three others started. One and a-half lengths; quarter of a length. Quake was fourth. Time. 1.15 2-ssec. Flying Handicap, of 65sovs., six furlongs.—(l) Lordly Knight, 7.10 (Marsh) 1; (2) Big Dock, 7.4, 2; (4) Vane Step. 8.6. 3. Also started: Gasman.
