SHEEP VALUES AT WESTFIELD
[Special to “Northern Adiiocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day.
There was a comparatively good demand for sheep at the Westfield sale held yesterday. The yarding comprised about 5700 ewes, nearly 2000 lambs and 300 rapes. The quality was not outstanding, the best of the sheep of the province usually finding their way into the Waikato sales. At the same time there was a fair number of very attractive offerings, and for these there was keen competition Few sheep were yarded from the north, owing to transport difficulties due to the recent storm, and one firm alone was about 1000 head short of its anticipated number. There was a satisfactory clearance. The range of value was as follows: Two-tooth ewes, 25/ to 35/4; 5-year-old ewes, 20/ to 27/; aged and fullmouth ewes, 10/6 to 19/9; 2-tooth wethers. 17/ to 20/9; 4-tooth wethers, 22/; ewe lambs, 16/ to 20/9; best store lambs. 15/6 to 17/6; others, 10/ to 15/3; Southdown shearing rams, to 7£ gns; English Leicesters, to 3£ gns; Shropshires, to 3* gns. Other rams in little demand.
