Smaller entries came forward on Tuesday’s sale at Stortford Lodge. The floods and gales over the week-end were responsible for this in some degree. Only a moderate percentage of finished sorts was penned in the fat cattle section, and prices on finished sorts of bullocks advanced £2, while cows and heifers showed a distinct advance. A small entry of store cattle came forward and sold steadily. Forward bullocks made to £9 2/. Fat sheep saw an improvement in lambs, while ewes and wethers showed a hardening tendency. Store sheep were steady at late rates, under good competition. Fat cattle: Bullocks made to £l3 4/; others to £l2; cows, £9 16/. Store cattle: Forward bullocks, to £9 2/. Fat sheep: Wethers, to 25/; ewes, to 19/; lambs, to 26/3; 2-tooth, to 23/6. Store sheep: Rape lambs, to 19/6; ewe lambs, to 20/; wethers, to 23/6; five and 6-year ewes, to 20/6; others, to 26/7.
