, SHEEP STEALING CHARGE. CASE AT KAIKOHE. Appearing before Messrs J. J. Bedggood and H. R. Moor, J’s.P., on Monday, Sam Herbert was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment for stealing a sheep, valued at £1 1/ and owned by Joseph Owen Harris, of Taheke.

It was stated that the accused had been engaged in a post-splitting contract at Taheke, and that on December 23 the owner of the sheep had found a carcase at Herbert’s camp. When questioned by the police Herbert admitted that the carcase had been stolen.
