RADIO LICENSES
SEPTEMBER INCREASE. [Special to “Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day. Last month 4278 new licenses for radio receiving sets were taken out in New Zealand, this being' 390 more than were issued in September last year. The average monthly increase in the past year was just under 3000. At the end of last month there were 175,290 paid receiving licenses in the Dominion, an increase of 33,051 on the figure at the corresponding date last year. Of the present total 54,040 were in the Auckland district, the other totals being Wellington 65,041, Canterbury 30,867, Otago 24,324. The grand total of licenses on September 30 was 177,683, an increase of 4325 on the total at the end of August.
Besides the 175,290 paid receiving licenses, there were 119 dealers’ permits, 867 amateur experimental licenses, four experimental research, 3 special,' 367 free, 22 broadcasting and 2 private commercial licenses. Wellington has the largest number of dealers, with 380, the other totals being Auckland, 379, Cantei'bury 218, Otago* 142.
