OBSTRUCTION DETECTOR
CAN SEE THROUGH FOG. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 14. A new invention to safeguard shipping in fog, called an obstruction detector, was satisfactorily tested at Flamborough Head works. It is similar to a searchlight, but does not throw a ray, and can be pointed from the bows of a vessel. It" will detect any obstruction within 10 miles. During tests a detector located ships invisible to the naked eye. The inventor claims that it can also detect aeroplanes before they come into sight.
