AUCKLAND HOSPITAL
DOCTORS APPOINTED, SURGICAL AND MEDICAL. BOTH NEW ZEALANDERS. [Special to “Northern Advocate.”'] AUCKLAND, This Day. A special meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday appointed Mr F. P. Furkert, M. 8., Ch.B. (N.Z.), F.R.C.S., (Eng.), senior surgical officer of the Auckland. Hospital, and Dr. F. R. Wilson, M. 8., Ch.B. (N.Z.), M.R.C.P. (London), senior medical officer. Both are New Zealanders at present holding positions in hospitals in England: There were two applicants for the surgical position and four for the medical position, all except one, an Australian, being New Zealanders. Applications for the two positions in the Auckland Hospital were invited in New; Zealand some months ago, but there was no reply, to the advertisement. The board tlien decided to increase the remuneration offered and to advertise in England, Australia and New Zealand. Mr Furkert and Dr. Wilson will take up their duties at the Auckland Hospital as soon as possible after their present appointments have expired. The board also confirmed the appointment of Dr. D. Muir to the temporary position he now holds of admitting officer at the Auckland Hospital.
