NET FIGURES FOR QUARTER

The railway returns for the fourweekly period at June 22 were gazetted last night. The gross revenue for the period was £477,993, which was £25,623 greater than last year. Expenses were increased by £25,368 to £437,651. The operating account for the North Island lines shows revenue amounting to £244,841, an increase of £19,638,, and expenses totalling £235,899, an increase of £16,579. There was a profit of £8,942, compared with £5,883 last year. From the South Island railways receipts were £179,703, an increase of £4,262. Expenses were £171,267, or £7,265 more than last year. There was a profit of £8,436, compared with £11,430. The balance of miscellaneous revenue was £22,964, as against £22,774. The gross revenue was £53,449, and the expenditure £30,485.
For. the 12 weeks of the current fin ancial year net revenue was £264,337, as against £263,109 last year, £212,047 in 1933, £192,253 in 1932, £211,742 in 1931 and £201,377 in 1930. The gross revenue was £1,550,672, an increase of £59,118, while working expenses were £1,286,425 or £27,890 more than 1934.
