SHORT AND SWEET
THE NEXT SESSION. RESTORATION OF CUTS? MINISTER RETICENT. I Special to “Northern Advocate ”1 AUCKLAND, This Day. An indication that the coming session of Parliament, to open on August 29, is likely to be “short and sweet” was given by the Hon. A. Hamilton on his arrival today on a brief visit. He said all the main problems had disposed of last session, and he did no*know .of any important policy matters that were to be brought down next session. The session would be a normal one, continuing through September and October, and possibly into early November. Asked concerning a possible further restoration of Civil Service salary cuts, .Mr Hamilton said he was unable to voice any opinion. Such matters depended upon the financial position, and there were people who said that general taxation should first be reduced. The whole position would have to be sized up later.
Questioned concerning the possibility of an alteration to the electoral laws, Mr Hamilton said he had not discussed it, and it had not been formally discussed by Cabinet. “I don’t think any news could be better, unless it were the news of a general rise in the prices for primary produce,” said the Minister in referring to the meat agreement.
