There were present at the ceremony .groups of Maoris numbering about 2000 from the Taranaki, Wairarapa, East Coast, Bay of Plenty, Wanganui, King Country and Urewera districts. His Excellency was also accorded today a civic reception in Napier, where he laid the foundation stone of a new art gallery and addressed the school children. Tomorrow he will receive a civic welcome at Hastings in the morning and proceed south immediately afterwards.
