FURIOUS GALE
MUCH HAVOC WROUGHT. (Received 2.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. A fierce gale is lashing Melbourne. The interstate liner Westralia, from Perth, was forced to anchor in the bay and send her passengers ashore I
in tugs. Considerable damage was done on the foreshore. Piers have been damaged and small craft blown ashore. Fences have been levelled in the suburbs.
