A regulation was gazetted last evening under the Agriculture Emergency Powers Act, 1934, authorising companies manufacturing butter, cheese, dried milk, casein or other products derived from milk or cream, to borrow money out of the funds provided . under Section 26 of the above-men-tioned Act and repay such moneys and interest by the insurance of debentures, mortgages, etc. The companies are also authorised to lend milk and cream suppliers such borrowed money to obtain improved conditions in and about premises used as a dairy by the supplier. LONDON ADVICES. BUTTER MARKET FIRM. N.Z. 89/- TO 90/-. tSpeciaU to “Northern Advocate.”! AUCKLAND, This Day. Messrs A. S. Paterson and Company have received a cable from London, dated July 1, reading:—Butter market firm. Danish, 82/- f.0.b.; New Zealand, 89/- to 90/-; Australian, 87/-. Cheese market dull and declining. New Zealand, white, 43/6; coloured, 43/-. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.—New Zealand butter, 89/- to 90/-. New Zealand cheese, 44/- to 44/6. Both- markets are quiet.

Messrs Joseph Nathan and Company’s London cable, dated yesterday, states that the butter market is very firm, with New Zealand at 90/-.

' Mr L. McCartney has received the following cable from Messrs Henry A. Lane and Company, dated London, July 18:—New Zealand butter, 89/- to 90/-; market steady. New Zealand cheese, white, 44/- to 44/6; coloured, 43/6 to 44/-; market quiet. The official Press Association message states: Butter is firm and active. Danish, 102/ per cwt. Choicest salted: New. Zealand, 89/ to 90/ per cwt; Australian, 86/ to 87/. Unsalted; New Zealand, 94/; Australian, 88/. Cheese is quiet. New Zealand coloured, 43/6; white, 44/. Australian, white and coloured, 41/ to 42/; exceptional, 42/6.
