UNION’S DISAPPROVAL
UNFAIRNESS ALLEGED,

Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union officials expressed strong disapproval of the action of the New Zealand Union in deciding that tho home matches against Taranaki, Wanganui and Auckland on September .1, fi and 8 respectively should be Raufurly Shield matches. Mr .T. W. Norrie, chairman of tho Management Commitl.ee, said that it was not fair either to the public or to the players, many of whom came long distances, to have throe matches played in a week. , Mr N. A, McKenzie, solo selector, said the decision was an indirect contravention' of the protection afforded Southland after that, union had lifted the Shield from Wairarapa.
