KIOREROA ROAD

WORK PROCEEDING RAPIDLY. FORMATION NEARLY FINISHED. BOROUGH COUNCIL'S PART. Anyone inspecting the work that has been done on the new road which is to connect Whangarei with the new Kioreron Wharf would be surprised at the amount of formation that has been 1 accomplished. The road is being built on the east side of the railway and a large portion of the formation - has been completed, together with the approaches to the Limebvlrners Creek bridge. The road when completed will be fid feet wide, representing the portion that will be handed over to the Whangarei County Council, and a further very wise provision Ims been the sotting aside of 10 feet on either side as a. reserve for trees. In time, the road, tree-lined from the town to the waterfront, should present a very attractive gateway to the borough. Questioned as to the probable date of the completion of the road, the engineer to the Whangarei Harbour Board, Air W. M. Fraser, stated this morning that the work would soon have to be stopped unless the Borough Council legalised its portion of the - road through the borough.
