His Majesty the King gave an audience to Sir Thomas Wilford on the oc-
casion of his retirement from the Noav Zealand High Commissionership.
Adjutant and Mrs Ransom left by the express this morning, en route to Gisborne, AAdiero they will take charge of the Salvation Army corps in that centre.
Departures by the express today included Alessrs 11. Smith’and L. Simmons, ex-pupils of the AYhangarei High School, who are to study medicine at Dunedin University.
Air G, Alovton Smith, Christchurch manager of John Burns and Company. Ltd., has been appointed general manager for Noav Zealand. He will leave Christchurch for Auckland at the end of March, and will take over his non duties at Auckland at the beginning of April.
On Saturday, Air Hendrik AVillom Van Loon Avas the guest of Their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloe, at lunch, and during the morning Dr. Fong Foo, See., representative of Rotary International at the Ncav Zealand Rotary Conference, was granted an audience hv the GoA T ernor-Goneral.
Mr A. If. B. Jones, manager of the Bank of Noav South Wales, Christchurch, is to be transferred to Wellington as assistant inspector of the New Zealand division of the bank. Air J. E. Aster, formerly of the head office at Sydney, and at present assisting inspector for the Now Zealand Division, will succeed Mr Jones at Christchurch.
A visitor to Whangarei during the week-end Avas Miss daughter of the ReK. R. Harries, of Auckland. Alisa Harries, who is to leave Ncav Zealand next month to join the Undenominational Mission in the Syrian field, was in Whangarei on deputation work. A'esterday afternoon she addressed the Baptist Bibl> Classes. This morning she left for Dargaville. During her stay she Avas the guest of Airs J. N. McCarroil.
