The Secretary of State for India, Sir Samuel Hoare, was asked in the House of Commons today whether ne* gotiations had been commenced between the Governments of Britain and India for a comprehensive trade agreement extending the principle of the Ottawa Agreement to include all textiles. It was stated in reply that,the matter was under consideration. As the first step, the Government of India was seeking to obtain legislative authority for an agreement between Bombay and Lancashire. The Minister said he would then consider, in consultation with the Viceroy, how this and other matters might' be related to the Ottawa settlement.
