Italians and other-suf- 1 ferers should receive recompense, for which the Federal Government ought to be responsible., . I A message from Kalgoprlie states i that the Yugoslavian Vice-Consul said j there was .little bitterness’among his j countrymen in regard to the riot. They recognised that the trouble arose through the actions of a‘ small section of the community. The Vice-Cbnsul said that, while he I had no definite promise, he thought | the'Government would provide, ma-1 terial with which to rebuild the dc-j .strayed homes, A local committee of .Yugoslavs:is trying to arrange for •temporary accommodation for the homeless. The Consul for Italy, Signor Constantino, has received £IOO from Signor Mussolini for the relief of the distressed Italians on the goldfields at. Kaigoorlie and Boulder City, following the racial riots of last week. Perth relief funds amount to £BOO. Mr if. '■ A. Lyons, Prime Minister, spoakingiat Hobart, said: “All rightthinking Australians will view with contempt the action of the Kalgoorlie miners who caused the recent riot. The Commonwealth Government, with the Goveriiment of West Australia, coir damns and deplores what Mr Collier, the Premier described as a scandalous happening in' a civilised community, ’’ Air Lyons expressed confidence in the State Government’ being able to present further- trouble.
