WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

HAPPY VALLEY. The Happy Valley Women’s Institute held their January meeting at Mrs .1. Wooster’s residence. The usual business was discussed. It was decided to forward a donation to the Auckland and the Dominion Federations. A letter was read by the president from an Institute pen-friend in Canada, The roll call was “A recipe for the institute recipe box,” The motto for Hie day was “The Brotherhood of Man is the Fatherhood of God.” In the cabbage competition, a special prize was awarded to Miss H. Donelly for growing a cabbage weighing I4lba. Mrs Rnper tllarrison had ’previously Avon first prize with a cabbage weighing lOlbs, and Mrs J. BroAvnlic Avas second with one Aveighing 71 lbs. The programme, for the. day avor arranged by Mesdames J. and 0, "Wooster and Miss D. Wooster.
