EXPERT AID
OVERCOMING DIFFICULTIES INCREASING TENDENCY (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. An increasing tendency the world over to seek the aid of experts in efforts to overcome difficulties was the subject of comment by Air. C. T, Aschman, chairman of the Canterbury College Board of Governors, when speaking at a welcome home from the World Economic Conference to Professor A. H. Tocker, who was a member of the official Now Zealand delegation.
Mr. Aschman said: “I can state on behalf of Canterbury College, and I think on behalf of’ the University of New Zealand, that if it can add to the sum of human knowledge by allowing its officers to take part in assisting in the solution, of national difficulties it is and will bo glad to do so. It would surprise most of you if I told you of the work that Canterbury College is doing at the request of those outside it, especially on the scientific side.
“The appeal for assistance by the Government or organisation,” Mr. Aschman continued, “is not the asking of favours but the claiming of a right, and the more that right is exercised Hie better will the governing authorities be pleased. 1 ”
