OHAEAWAI NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Seven-a-side Tournament. Crowds thronged the football grounds of Ohaeawai on the 3rd of June to witness the popular annual seven-a-side tournaments. The weather was very blustery and cold, and one or two showers added to the discomfort of tiie many onlookers who ignored the shelter of the grandstand. Two preliminary school matches opened the day, and were followed by the Maromaku and Ohaeawai B grade juniors, the former winning by 3 points to nil. The standard of play was a, high average throughout the day’s sport, some exceptionally good games being witnessed. The results of the matches are as follows; —
Juniors. —Tung Oil A grade 0 v. Okaihau A 9; Okaihau. B 6 v. Ataromaku .A 3; Afoorewa B 3 v. Tung Oil B 3; Aloerewa A 0 v. Ohaeawai A 11; Okaihau A 3 v. Pakaraka A (I; Okaihau B 3 v. Tung Oil B H; Ohaeawai A 0 v, Alaromaku B 3; Ohaeawai A 3, ATaromakn B 0; Okaihau A 6 v. Okaihau B 3.
Seniors. —The Y.ALP. (Young Maori Party) A grade, defaulted in their match against Okaihau B. Alaromaku A 11 v. Aloerewa B 8; Tung Oil A 0 v. Ohaeawai B 3; Okaihau A 0 v, Ohaeawai A 8; Maromaku B 6 v. A'.ALP. B 0; Tung Oil B 3 v. Aloerewa A 3; Ohaeawai A 0 v. Ohaeawai B 20; Alaromaku A 9 v. Y.M.P. A 0; Maroinaku B 3 v. Tung Oil B <5. Junior final. —Okaihau A S v. Ohaoawai A 5. 'Senior final. —Maromaku A 6 v. Tung Oil A 0. Third grade.—Aloerewa competed successfully against Okaihau and Ohaeawai, the scores being 6—3 and 6—o respectively. Kawakawa won the school matches.
Cups and medals wore awarded the winning teams at the conclusion of the day’s sport.
