Tlie “Daily Herald” foreshadows an Anglo-Persian treaty, which, it says, will bring Persia definitely into the British sphere of influence, thus excluding Russian influence on Persia. The paper says the Shah is sending negotiators to London. The treaty, it adds, will include facilities for. British air routes, preference for British subjects in economic concessions in Persia, and a commercial treaty, giving preferential treatment to British and Indian trade.
The Teheran correspondent of “The Times” says the Persian newspapers declare that the agreement cancels the former l(i per cent, basis of the royalties payable 'by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company in favour of a royalty of 4/> per ton on oil extracted, with a pay-, merit of £2,000,000 in gold against outstanding claims and last year’s royalty. The correspondent says the company’s concession lias neon extended 30 vears.
