BASKETBALL

HIGH SCHOOL A V. KOWHAI. On Saturday afternoon on the" High School court School A played the Kowhai team from Waiotira, the score being 13—5 in School’s favour. Play at first was very scrappy, neither team showing to any decided advantage. Kowhai secured the first score, but School soon retaliated, and gained the lead. As the teams settled down play improved, the passing becoming quicker and less haphazard. The defenders in the Kowhai team played exceedingly well and prevented School from scoring on many occasions. Miss Douns, in the Kowhai" defence and R. Johnson and M. McCord, in the School team, were the outstanding players. Both teams showed a slight Qaek of combination. This is to be expected at the beginning of the season, but will easily be overcome by practice and experience. Regent v. School B. On Friday afternoon on the School court Regent defeated School B by 32 points to 1.
