SUNDAY PARADE
AUCKLAND UNEMPLOYED. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Yesterday afternoon there wms a par ado of 200 unemployed men and a few women through Queen Street. The procession started near tho old railway station and proceeded up Queen Street, headed by a man carrying a red flag. They marched to the Domain, where the pavilion was packed by supporters. Banners bearing the signs “We are the men who want work for wages” and “Work or Wages” were carried. From prominent positions leaders of the unemployed movement addressed the gathering, urging workers to unite. A resolution wns passed protesting against the withdrawal of the No. 5 unemployment scheme. About £5 I.V was netted as the result of a collection for the fund of the movement. It was announced that another demonstration would be held todav.
