MILITARY BALL.
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION, The annual ball of the North Auckland, Alounted Rifles was bold in the Castilian Cabaret . on AVe dues day night. The function was entirely successful in every way, and the large number of dancers present spent an enjoyable time. The Cabaret is an ideal venue for such a dance, and qn Wednesday night it was just comfortably filled. The floor was prepared to a fine condition and the music by the Snappy Four Dance Baud provided all that was necessary for an evening of enjoyment. The dancing space was attractively decorated in red and orange, and several flags and the arms of the regiment relieved the •walls. Alajor -Can-nth was floor AI.C. and Captain Foster was secretary. Prior to the first dance the company paraded in a grand march and then there was a set of the Laneers. Included iu the programme were a number of old-time dances, which -were much appreciated. Spot lights during several dances added to the novelty. An excellent supper was served! in the restaurant below the cabaret. The nine-hole miniature golf course adjoining the dancing room was very popular and always had its quota of play-
