CRUISER COMMISSIONED

THREE YEARS ON STOCKS.

COST NEARLY TWO MILLIONS. (Received 8.21 a.m.) LONDON, May 6. The first 8400-ton class cruiser, York, has been commissioned and is joining the second cruiser squadron at Scapa Flow. It was three years building at Palmer’s works, Jarrow-on-Tyne and cost approximately £1,800,000. On her trials she showed a speed of 32J knots, developing 80,000 horsei power.
