VIGOROUS PRECAUTIONS PRINCES TO CONFER. HINDU BUSINESS CEASES. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received 10.52 a.ra.) DELHI, May 6, The authorities, last evening, began vigorous precautions which were redoubled today against disturbances. Early in the morning, , Calcutta resounded to the tramp of armed men and the Light Horse were out for the first time for many years. The Calcutta Scottish were called out on Sunday night arid are at present at reserve headquarters in Calcutta. At Bombay, a monster meeting of 100,000 persons was addressed from seven different platforms by MrsSarojiui Naidu and other speakers. Mrs Naidu introduced six Americans, seated with her, who wished to congratulate the nation on Gandhi’s arrest. At the invitation of the Maharajah Jamsaheb, of Nawanagar, many prominent Indian Princes are meeting at Nawanagar to decide on. a course of action in view of the alarming situation throughout the country. Complete cessation of work in the Hindu business quarters occurred in nearly every city in. India today as the result of Gandhi’s arrest, and military police have been mobilised to prevent outbreaks. In Howrah, near Calcutta, a mob of 3000, who attacked a small police band, were fired on.
