The tennis championships were continued in good weather conditions. Results:—

New Zealand Plate, final. —E. McL. Perkins, Wellington, beat J. B. Parker, Wellington: (5—3, 4—6, 6 —l. Boys’ Doubles, final. —W. G. Robertson, South Canterbury and M, Perkins, Wellington, beat E. E. and M. F. Lees Auckland: 6 —5, 6—o. Perkins played slightly more accurate tennis than Parker in a careful match for the Plate. In the first set, iParker developed arm trouble and Perkins had an easy win.

lii the boys’ doubles final, the Bob-crtson-Perkins combination always held Lees and Lees, who did not play accurately at any stage. The holders (Lees) attempted too much hitting. The winners led five-love in the first set and lost the lead through rashness on the part of Perkins who had to do restrained by 'his partner. The second sot was a walk-over, both boys playing very accurately.

The third round of the mixed doubles resulted: —Sandra.ll and Miss Marjorie MaeFatlane beat P. Howell and Miss D. Nicholls: 7 5, 9 -7. Wil* son and Mrs Thomson beat Parker and Miss Andrew: 6 —3, 6—3.

Mixed Doubles, semi-finals, Sandrall and Miss Marjorie MacFarlane beat Stedman and Mrs "Adams; 6 2, 7-S< ■ ' Boys’ singles, final, —W. G. Robertson (South Canterbury) beat R. E. Lees (Auckland): 3—6, 6—2, 6—>3.

air J. 0. Charters has returned to Whangarei after five weeks tennis in which he has earned the reputation of being one of the Dominion’s best players. His tournament record is as follows: —

Auckland Provincial tournament.— Extended the New Zealand champion, E. L. Bartlett to five sets in the semifinals of the championship. North Island Championships at ‘Wanganui.—'Defeated 'Stedman, ranking seventh among 'New Zealand players, and Was beaten toy Angas in the semifinals.

Taranaki Provincial championships at New Plymouth, —Won the men’s singles, defeating Rhodes-Williams in

the final, and .partnered with Steelman, won the doubles.

Palmerston North tournament.—Won the singles handicap from scratch. Waipukurau tournament. —.Accounted for the singles championship, and the doubles, playing with Entwistle. Wairarapa Championships at Masterton. —Beaten in. the final toy Stedman, with whom he won ,tlie doubles. Playing with Miss Wake he won the combined championship. Mr Charters attributes his great improvement in form to regular.' tournament play. He considered (that outside Masterton and Stanley Bay, Wliangarei are the best courts he has played upon.
