LABOUR CONFERENCE
N.Z. TO BE REPRESENTED. NOMINATIONS CALLED. (Special to “Northern Advocate.’’) AUCKLAND, This Day. Nominations for representatives of trade unions and employers’ associations to attend the International Labour Conference at Geneva in May on behalf of New Zealand, are now being invited by the Government. There will be a representative each of the workers and of the employers, the final selection being made by ballot in a manner similar to the election of assessors to the Arbitration Court. Tn addition, there will be a direct representative of the Government.
For the position of the Trade Unions’ representative, Air T. Bloodworth, Auckland, has consented to nomination. During the recent session of Parliament, Sir Joseph Ward promised that New Zealand would be represented at the 1930 Conference. He added that representatives would have -been sent to Geneva in 1929 but for the lime available for the selection of delegates being too short.
