CASH PURCHASES
CIVIL SERVANTS MOVE MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The North Auckland section of the New Zealand Public Service Association met in the Public Trust Building, Whangarei, last evening. The president, Mr A. F. Blackburn, was in the chair. , Mr J. W. Otway, district delegate to the New Zealand conference of the Association, held at Wellington, reported on superannuation, salary and other matters which had been discussed. Tiie North Auckland remit regarding car allowances was defeated. The sub-committee set up to investigate the proposal to form a Cash Purchase Association for Whangarei reported that considerable interest had been created. A set of rules governing the proposed association was submitted to the meeting and sonfirmed. It was left in the hands of the secretary to convene a meeting of delegates from kindred associations interested in the project. Messrs R. J. Hill and 0. Bauman (Public Trust), A. Butcher (Defence) and F. Rermode (Public Works) were appointed as the association’s delegates.
The idea is to encourage cash purchases and thereby obtain discounts.
