WINGING THE TASMAN
MR JOLLEY WITHDRAWS
INTOLERABLE OBSTRUCTION,
(Received 1.30 p.m.) . SYDNEY, This Day
Mr Jolley, wireless operator, who had arranged to accompany Captain P. Moody on the trans-Tasman flight, anuouncees that he has decided to go no further with the project, stating that Government and departmental opposition and interference had forced him to this decision. In a Better to Colonel Brinsmead, Director of Civil Aviation, Mr Jolley stated that although the money was in hand to complete the purchase of a monoplane, at present in bond in Sydney, the position had become intolerable, as a result of the attitude of the Government and Colonel Brinsmead’s department. It had been decided to return the money to subscribers rather than ask them to risk big expenditure in the face of official threats to prevent the flight at all costs. —A. and N.Z.
